Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
