Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with publishing house.

David Walliams

Best-selling children's author and TV personality David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, the company has said.

A spokesman for the company commented: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish future works by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the conclusion was taken subsequent to an review of reports of questionable actions involving young women.

The firm did not confirm the motivations for this action, adding: "We do not comment on internal matters."

A Highly Successful Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, boasting over more than 60 million copies worldwide in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Some of his works, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into television films.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works in total, including a holiday title titled *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins last autumn.

From Screen to Page

He first rose to fame on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago for his services to the charitable sector and arts community.

This move occurs subsequent to the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss this past October.
