Eulogies Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, commenting that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order put a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public individuals offered divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial remarks that were widely condemned by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an associate should have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
