FC Barcelona Set to Play First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in La Liga two and a half years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. Once fully finished, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
