Palestinian-American Teenager Released After Nine-Month Period in Israeli Custody

A Palestinian-American adolescent after completing a nine-month period in Israel's custody absent formal charges was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.

Family described him as pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery following exposure to mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

The state department stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," officials stated.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, demanding more be done for his freedom.

The father, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

He had not seen nor direct contact since February, learning information solely regarding the treatment through judicial records.

Mohammed was held without charge in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to mature inmates, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations and homicide.

There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities succumbed to assault by radical settlers following tensions during summer.

During that period, defense forces stated they were examining accounts of a Palestinian had been killed.

Mohammed and Sayfollah collaborated at their family's ice cream business in Tampa, Florida.

No charges have been filed with Sayfollah's killing.

"We expect the American government to protect our families," the uncle stated.
