Reigning Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Top Player Accolades.

Aryna Sabalenka in action
The Belarusian player concluded the season with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She received almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence".

  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals.
